WIW Royal Windsong
Foaled May 14, 2003 at 8 PM
(Royal Pride Rythm x Cameo Windchime, by Woodwind V)

Miriam Abdalaal, new owner of WIW Royal Windsong January 26, 2007.

Early October 2005. Windsong is now 2 years and 5 months. She is starting under saddle and calm and unflappable! She is still growing.

Windsong enjoys the wind in her mane-June 15, 2004

Essam Abdalaal grew up in Egypt and spent time with the horses raised by his late grandfather. Mr. Abdalaal, who operates The City Place in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, thought often about his nieces and nephews who get to ride horses in Egypt. He thought it would be great if his own young children could be skillful riding horses, especially one of their own.

On January 31, 2007, Mr. Abdalaal bought Purebred Arabian filly WIW Royal Windsong with that dream in mind. Mr. Abdalaal and his family spend many evenings a week visiting Windsong at her new home in Grafton. Windsong follows her new owners around and loves to be affectionate with them. We have been saying for years that purebred Arabian horses who learn to trust their owners will do wonderful things out of love for their humans.

The picture shows Miriam Abdalaal, who has been blessed to be learning much about horses and riding. She loves to read about horses. On the day that Windsong was delivered, Mr. Abdalaal took Miriam out of school early to meet Windsong. The little girl threw her arms around her new filly and remarked to people around her, "It's cold outside, but I am warm in my heart."

Best of love and good wishes to Mr. Abdalaal and to his family. We hope that the new relationship with WIW Royal Windsong will last forever!

If you continue reading, you will discover the love affair we have had with WIW Royal Windsong, even now that she belongs to a new family who has allowed us to continue to visit her... As the song goes, "I can't seem to forget you... Windsong stays on my mind." Surely, because Windsong will always be unforgettable to us, we have been honored to bring her story to you via our website.

The pictures of-WIW Royal Windsong, the best of both Royal Pride Rythm and Cameo Windchime, show her at 15 months old and 13.3 hands at the 2004 Great Geauga County Fair (September 6), where she bested seasoned horses.

Windsong is 49.44 Crabbet/Blunt. Click for pedigree. She has Windchime's beautiful jibbah, eyes, and ears, but she has Royal's longer legs and his wonderful rear quarters, so  she is everything we had expected to accomplish with this cross.

Better yet, she is Windchime's first and only filly, and is she ever sweet, very approachable, and easy-going. Although she was eight days late, she was born before the sun went down, and Windchime had an easy delivery.

Windsong is a half-sister to WIW Windys Choice (pinto stallion) and WIW Windsome Fortune (chestnut NSH gelding).

As Windsong "unfurls," we will have new pictures  to share.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the accompanying music, courtesy of Robert Conrad, President of Cleveland, Ohio's WCLV Radio Station and longtime host of a program called Saturday Night on WCLV.  That program, the height of our week, was always the backdrop for our special projects--building a piece of furniture, making wine from dandelions and plums (and anything else that dared to grow in our garden), and even building our own beloved harpsichord when our children were finally safely at sleep.  The sign-off music for this program was called "Fugacity." If you do an Internet Search, you will see the word connected with metaphysics, as well as the Cold Fusion theory. The words  to this ethereal classic are as follows:

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.
I awake as a child to see the world begin
On monarch wings and birthday wanderings.
I want to put on faces, walk in the wet and the cold
And look forward to my growing old...

To grow old is to change,  and to change is to be new.
To be new is to be young again...I  barely remember, when
My memory is stolen by the morning,
Blotted out by the sun's hypnotic eye,
Out by the sun's hypnotic eye.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.
I awake as a child to see the world begin
On monarch wings and birthday wanderings.
I want to put on faces, walk in the wet and the cold
And look forward to my growing old.

----Mr. and Mrs. Garvey
from a 1960s recording that has been out  of print since 1979

Many thanks, Bob Conrad, for being a part of our lives for so long and for  graciously providing this music so we can memorialize a special young lady. Finally, we extend  our sincere thanks and our blessings to all of those members of  humanity  who look forward to the renewal and growth that each new day brings.

Hi mom

At 7 weeks she is hard bodied and very athletic. When she runs not even her mother can keep up.
